What does Keller Postman do?
Keller Postman is a US-founded law firm which has doubled in size since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, with offices in Chicago, Austin, Texas and Washington DC. Its UK arm launched in 2019 and now has a 40-strong team situated in London and Liverpool.
In 2021, the company was shortlisted for the independent law firm of the year and strategic legal operations team of the year at the British Legal Awards.
“We needed external scrutiny and support because we didn’t have the internal skills, processes, training and competencies to tackle this alone.”

The privacy challenge for Keller Postman
The biggest challenge Keller Postman faces is keeping the personal data safe of the many thousands of clients it represents. Having systems and processes robust and consistent enough to operate securely, at scale, is essential. “We handle huge volumes of data,” Matthew Evans, Senior Associate, at Keller Postman, says. “And one of our specialisms is data protection cases, so if we drop the ball and commit a data breach, it’s very serious for us. It really impacts our credibility and reputation. And the other side might use that for no other purpose than to discredit us in a future claim.” That could even be something simple such as sending an email to the wrong person, or with an email attachment that isn’t password protected.
How the Privacy Compliance Hub has helped Keller Postman succeed
Evans says the launch of the UK arm – essentially the establishment of a new company – caused the senior leadership team to start thinking about privacy more carefully. Today, the company has around 130 staff spread across four offices. “We knew we needed a training programme, and to think about how we could consolidate and disseminate all of this information. There was also a view that we needed external scrutiny and support, because we didn’t have the internal skills, processes, training and competencies to tackle this alone. We appointed an external Data Protection Officer who introduced us to the Privacy Compliance Hub. The idea was that between the two, we’d start to create an ecosystem of privacy and compliance.”
After a demonstration, Evans says he was impressed by what the Hub offered. “It covers everything, is easy to use, and the training tool is suitable for every level. We knew it would be a useful tool for all staff members and provide a good overview of why privacy matters.”
The successful privacy outcome
For Keller Postman, the Privacy Compliance Hub has been the right solution. “Each office now has a Privacy Champion and they’ve all followed the Hub training and are following the milestones on the Roadmap in a logical way,” Evans says. “We also use the Hub for templates. It’s very user friendly.”

“For me, the client support has also been excellent,” he adds. “Karima in particular is extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and approachable. She delivered a presentation on why privacy matters to our staff and it was one of the best presentations we’ve ever had.”
